I need to decide how to do the straps. I LOVE how the Noro worked with the Honeycomb stitch! It's gorgeous. When it's all done I'll surely post a picture. For WIP pics go see my Ravelry project gallery for it.

I started the Grab-&-Go Bag from the Nov issue of Creative Knitting. I really wanted to use the Cascade the pattern calls for, but got impatient for my scheduled trip to Webs on the 10th and dug through my stash, settling for some Elsebeth Chunky Al. I am a bit nervous for my first felting experience, but this yarn looks like it felts beautifully from looking at other projects on Ravelry, so we will see how this turns out.

I feel blessed that I have had enough time to knit lately.

New Plan

All morning I have been working on this DS case and it just isn't working with the Hurry Up Spring cable pattern. The pattern is written for knitting in the round, and I am certainly not skilled enough to turn this stitch into something I can use on straight needles.

So I've been looking through my Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns, and I have decided on a stitch in there. It called Honeycomb, and it's really nice. I think it will work well with this project.

If anyone who has the Hurry Up Spring cable pattern wants to become ambitious enough to rewrite it for not knitting in the round, please post a link to it here. It would be a really cool pattern to use on a scarf or something.

Hurry Up Spring....DS?

So I'm knitting a DS case for a good friend of mine, and I want it to be really cool. I'm working off a pattern I found in Ravelry, and I like the basics about this pattern. I'm thinking perhaps I could incorporate the Hurry Up Spring Cabling somehow up the middle of it.

This is the first time I have knit with Noro Kureyon yarn. It's gorgeous colors. When I get this pattern finalized, I will post it here or on my Ravelry page. One day, I was wandering in Borders and I spotted Stitch N' Bitch. I sat down on the floor and opened it, and when I realized I had been reading it for 20 minutes straight and still wanted more, I took it to the register. My cousin Myrrh taught me how to knit the very next day. (Saturday, June 23, 2007) I was immediately hooked. I started buying up yarn and needles and haven't put them down since. I want to document the projects that I undertake as best as I can, but I cannot guarantee I won't get lazy about it. In fact, I can guarantee that I will. ;)

The very first project I undertook was a scarf, in a simple garter stitch:

I picked up the yarn at the Northampton LYS (Web's) and used size 10 needles, CO 40 stitches....and just knit until I ran out of yarn. It's a bit wider than I anticipated, but what can you hope for from your very first knit?

Then I learned to purl, and did a swatch out of SnB:

Then I found some cotton yarn and knit up a dish towel:

I used Sugar n Cream 100% cotton, worsted weight, one 2.5oz skein. I no longer have the link to the pattern, but if you were really that interested I am sure I could dig it up.

Welcome to Knits by Kyahbean...thanks for reading!
